I have an '05 f250 with 6.0l and use it to tow my '69 Bronco around. I put helper air bags in rear right away and can't tell if it is the bags or what but it is so damn ruff on the highway. It literally bounces my into the roof if I cross any sort of bump on the road. Does anyone have any fixes or ideas? And yes I let the air out of the bags.
Is this truck new to you, or are you complaining about the change in ride characteristics after the airbag install?
If you recently got the truck, it sounds like everything's perfectly normal! These things do ride really rough; this is the price we pay for the towing and payload capacity of these trucks.
As suggested, shocks may help, but my brand new '08 with 1200 miles on it beats me up every time I get in it...just the nature of the beast.
Yes, the truck is new to me. I've always had trucks and my brothers '03 f250 isn't nearly this bad. It just doesn't seem to be right or safe, it really hits HARD. Thanks for the welcome, been on classic Bronco forums for years nd its really helpful.
Do a visual on the suspension. Make sure everything is tight and no usual wear marks. These trucks are stiffer than the 150/ranger, but mine is pretty comfy. I think I see bilstiens in your future.
Thanks, I never was a gamer. When I was a kid Pac Man and Donky Kong was the big rage. I know they have come a long way since then. They used to have those games in the bars and restraunts and the computers then didn't have a good enough processor to display a moving image let alone use a dedicated graphic card; GPU. (unheard of then).
Sounds like too much pressure in the air bags, and you could use a set of better shocks. Check out bilstiens or kyb's a lot of us buy them from shockwarehouse.com, good prices and super fast ship time.
air bags are empty. instructions say to leave 10psi but needed to try something. I guess I'll look into new shock and start there, thanks and have a nice 4th.
I'm gunna try the shock removal idea. It sounds effective, thanx. I can't see any unwelcome contact with anything but I will take another more thorough look.
Maybe too simple of a reply, but did you check air pressure in the tires. These trucks are rated to haul quite a bit and thus the max air pressure is quite high. When empty, this pressure has to be reduced based on tire size/axle weights. Too much air = rough ride and excessive wear!
