ok guys heres the deal. i have a 88 ranger 4x4 that i put an amazing sound system in to. doesnt look that great but it sounds amazing. i have a eclips head unit and a eclips 300 watt tru power amp. same a 2000 watt and you would see at best buy. and pioneer rev 6.5 in the door and 1.5 tweaters on the dash. i have the amp and te cross overs behind the driver side seat. i broke the flex leads on both speakers this week and went and bought my buddies speakers same as mine just never used today and put the in and sent the old ones out to get fix. well i wana put a small sub in the truck to take to bass and what not off the 6.5 in the doors. can i put one behind the pass seat? it looks like i can but i figured i would ask b4 i go out and buy a sub and box and find out that i cant.
Low bass is omnidirectional, for the most part, and you can mount the subwoofers pretty much anywhere. I can't really see what you have done, it looks like component system with the woofers (6.5") in the doors and the tweeters in the dash. The crossover network should only have one input per side, which is where I suspect the 300w amp is connected. The 2k, I don't know what your driving with it, but would be more than sufficient for a mild sub.
check out the new shallow mount subs. Memphis has one that is under 3" thick, and they have plans on their website to build a box that is only 3.5" thick or so. Might even fit under your seat?
You can build really thin wedge boxes now that will fit behind the rear seat, it is just going to cost you a little more $$ for the shallow mount subs.
www.woofersetc.com and look under subs / shallow mount. It'll give you an idea what you are in for.
I've got the pioneer 8" shallow mounts in the doors of my wife's miata running 100watts per side and cut off at 250Hz - the 6.5's mid-door and tweeters take care of the rest. They don't hit "hard" like for rap, but they sound really tight for rock, etc.
