I still watch ufc, but i don't watch as much as I used too because of the rule changes over the years. When ufc first came out there were no rules. unfortunately the best defense in a one on one fight with no rules is usually wrestling or some form of grappling marital art and thats pretty boring to watch for most people. (I was a state champion wrestler in high school and I have a brown belt in akido.) In fact ufc was going under b4 Dana white took over. It's still an awsome sport that takes amazing athleticism, heart and skill. I am very much looking forward to july 11th.
Going to the ground is the last thing you want in a street fight. You can't be aware enough of your surroundings and you can't get away if the chance presents itself. Of course, when I taught it was all about survival. That was the only form of winning in my book.

I would totally agree that going to the ground is the last thing u would want in a street fight, I was referring to a one on one fight without the fear of weapons or someone else jumping in.

I know, I'm still programmed to go into the self-defense mode where it's all about survival. I spent six years training and teaching it. It's in mah blood. Probably another reason why UFC irritates me.
( oh yeah, sorry about the fumble fingered double post )
I've been guilty of a double post or 2 it's all good. I like to watch ufc but I look at it as entertainment. When I was growing up a couple of guys would beat the crap out of each other and end up best Friends for life. that is just not true these days. Now it seems like today weapons and people jumping in are the norm. Now I don't agree with it but i can prepare for it. I won't go into my history but I agree with tiny and sierraban on both their points, I like the ufc because of the athletics and the skill required to be at that level. basically it's fun to watch.

I wish I still enjoyed watching UFC.
Absolutely, anti grappling is the way to go for street fighting. Pop him in the chin, knock him out, and watch out for his buddy coming after you with the beer bottle in his hand. I think its important to know the basics of the ground though. What do you train in?
Yall see bisping get knocked out?! Man that was awesome!
it was one of the best ufc fights I have seen in a long time, bisbing getting knocked out was awesome, especially after he did all that smack talk. I really liked the ground and pound that lesnar did to mir.
