Has anyone had any experience with transmissions from Hughes Performance? Thinking about getting a E40D from them for my '94 F150 4x4. They want around $2,700.00 I plan on asking them why I should pay 1K more for theirs which only has a 90 day warranty when I can have mine rebuild locally with a 1 year/12,000 mile warranty. I believe theirs comes with a better torque converter but I don't think that is enough.
Give them a call and let us know what they have to say...I have been contemplating changing out my C-6 for an AOD which does not have all the problems the E4OD has...trouble is I just found out the AOD never came behind a big block. As I called around numerous wrecking yards and transmission shops I was told (from more than one source)that
"the E4OD is the worst transmission that Ford has ever built" and to stick with the C-6 or purchase an aftermarket overdrive such as the "Gear Vendor". If you go back through a lot of the old posts on this site you'll soon see that the E4OD is famous...famous for being "problematic". Maybe Hughes has sorted out of some of the problems? Hughes generally builds racing transmissions.
