hey all,im looking at a 2002 f450 7.3 6 speed manual with 238,000 miles.pretty clean, flat bed a/c works good.asking price $6,200.my only concern is that in overdrive and 4th there is a kinda of a grinding sound more rubbing.he said its been going on for about a year and the clutch was replaced about ten thousand ago.what yall think.go with it and save for a new tranny.
I have an auto so not much experience with the 6 speed. If it is in otherwise good condition it sounds good but then you have to wonder about someones maintenence levels when they let something like that go for a whole year. Just my .02
yea it looks mantained well.they don't use much any more so he didn't want to really put any more money in it.he brought it to Coteman and they said they would rebuild it,or he can just wait till its a problem.its had 5 injectors replace recent but now needs the other 3,witch aint all that hard to do.i'm just wondering about them 6 speeds are they junk,?and how much for a used one?all in all i think $6,200 aint bad.no dents or body damage the flat bed has ben recently rino linned.its got a fifth wheel hook up and tow pakage so it will be great for what i need.
6200 is probably fair if you dont factor in the tranny issue. Try to get them to take some off for that. The 6spd's are good units. I think they fixed any issues with them by 02. My 99 6spd would get hot take out the pressure plate, but that was a F350 with 3.73 gears.
it might not even be that bad of a issue, being the clutch was replace mabe somthing wrong there, probley not though.now i was just informed about a 04 f450,so im gana check that one out.im just trying to figure out all the comin probs before i go buy.im hauling a 6500 lb concrete trailer pump around with 100 gal water tank on the flat bed with an air compressor so i need reliable, but need to start of with somthing used for now.
some one thought it was a 04 called and another guy said it was a 96 f450 with only 77,000 miles.no a/c though.but waiting on a price.i still think i'll be happier with the 02.i started out looking for a international 4700 with a 12' flat bed,but they are so hard to find,at least in a condition that i would like to work with.
