Is this easy to install? Summit has the `kit` for 26.95. I am going to drop the pan and change the fluid and screen/filter(if needed) anyway.
OR should I just go for the B&M `transpak`... Looks more complicated and is 51.95 ....If So, what seting should I use... RV, High preformance/street, etc....
My Brain has never been `transmission enabled when it comes to Automatics`... Is this kit Easy for the true trans novice? Like under the truck Driveway job!!
Thanks ALL!!

The shift kit is pretty easy to install. First you start by dropping the tranny pan to drain the fluid (don't forget to drain the converter) or you can just punch a hole in the pan (at the lowest point)to drain it(less mess and gives you a starter hole for a drain plug)You can get a drain plug at your local parts store or do like I did and have someone weld a nut to the pan and buy an oil pan drain plug that threads into the nut. Then you pull all the bolts holding the valve body to the tranny case (more tranny fluid will drain) I think there are 11. The instructions in the B&M kit are good and if you follow them everything will work out good. I bought the shift improver kit. The only differences I see in the two is that the shift improver is a two stage kit and the transpak is a three stage kit and comes with a filter. I used the street/strip kit in my trans. It provides a good firm shift along with a little higher shift point. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info!!

So I take it the B&M `shift Improver` is the way to go.
Tanks for the tips on NOT using rags to wipe things down ..
I`ve been looking for a way to run the shift pionts up a little higher ...especially in low gear.

LAST EDITED ON 30-Aug-01 AT 01:36 AM (EST)[p]I just took my C6 in to get it rebuilt and threw the guy the same shift kit. It was all jacked up when I got it back. It wouldn't shift automatically and it was leaving trails of rubber each time it shifted even into third. The guy said he hated B&M and he would get another kit and make it right for free. I think he screwed it up somehow. As you know its not that hard of a process. Just goes to show ya if you want something done right do it yourself. With the new kit it shifts fine and firm when cold but I think the 2500 converter and headers make it overheat because it shifts to soon and softer when warm. Its going back again. It always seems like all fluids find their way to your armpit. Espacially gas. Boy does that burn.
Try a auxillary trans cooler. It will help any trans live longer!
