front hitch

I put my front hitch on tonight it took about 3 hrs including adjusting my license plate bracket. a friend said i may not be able legally to make a small cut out of my plate but he said something after it was done. I didnt want to relocate it for 3/8 of an inch. cant figure out how to add pictures but will upload to webshots and add link.
first accessory will be small platform so no more 2 ' step ladder to change oil. then a bike rack.
tested it out moving my camper around and it is sweat to use. my yard is not the biggest and the turning radius of the crewcab is 50 some feet.

I too have seen the hitch receivers that replace the tow hooks, also one that attaches to a snow plow mount where the plow would go. I think it was something like Harris Engineering, not really sure though. I looked at my list of subscriptions for threads, couldn't find it...

I made my own receiver that fits on one side in place of tow hook. I placed on drivers side so when I push the boat into driveway backwards it is easier to see. I drilled 2 holes thru the mounting plate behind the bumper so there are 4 bolts holding it on. 2 were there, and other 2 line up with frame bracket.

i did the same. just a piece of advice with the bike rack. i bought a 4 bike-rack from thule. it sat real high over the hood, so i made a 14" drop recevier that tucked right under the plastic piece under my bumper. that brought the bikes at about the hood level.(the other option is just cutting the main tube on the bike rack and re-drilling the two holes. i did'nt cause the rack cost too much money) i also made a licsense plate holder. all i did was take a piece of steel the size of the the licsence plate and i welded it to another receiver tube. i hung the plate as low as it can go and its only about an inch above the stock location. i have no idea how to post pictures...sorry.

Hey Red...nice truck. Where are your front center caps? Looks like you have the push on outer cap style like I do. I had to cut the center out to access my hubs but mine looks a lot better with them on with a small hole instead of a big @ss hole.
