New find: 79 F350 4x4
thank you for the compliments, this is my most prized possession! the truck has 6'' lift w/ 38.50x14.50x18'' pro-comp extreme all terrains on 18''x9'' KMC badlands wheels. this truck does not see severe offroading (i got anther one for that!) but some day i would like to go to Moab Utah & explore the back country w/it. it actually could use about 2'' more lift in frt to level it out & keep the tires out of the frt fenders. w/the tires turned & the susp. flexed they will make contact w/the lower frt part of fenderwell! so i got to be carefull w/it! best of luck to you w/your f350!!!
Attachment 16751 well, here's mine! original cond. bought it 4yrs ago w/ 21k miles. i added the lift/tires/wheels & repaired several other small details associated w/a truck setting more than it gets drivenAttachment 16752
I've been slowly making progress on the F350, thought I'd post a few new pics. Got the 36's mounted, front axle is all freshened with new axle seals, repacked bearings, new rotors, pads, calipers and brake lines. I also got the frame crossmembers and spring hangers replaced. Currently working on freshening the rear axle, although I have a line on a newer Sterling rear for a good price that I might end up swapping under this thing. Here are the pics:

Yes, they do work pretty well in the snow. I ran them for the last year on my '77 F150 and frequently used them for field stomping in the snow. They also work good in the mud, as they clean out very easily. That helps when your truck is powered by a weak 351M running on 5 cylinders... ask me how I know...
Don't worry, the slots are going back on a little later after I tear it back down for a more complete restoration. I will be spending some time between now and then polishing them up to get them looking new again.
i got mine from operation dessert storm army surplus on line many years ago. i still have all 6 too. they are like "hockey puck" hard. they slide forever on wet roads, and every morning they start out with flat spots, but they are great for off roading!!! that's why i have them mounted on separate rims, and only put them on for off road usage, then i take them off for street driving. they are real durable, they ware like iron.
Made a lot of progress on the F350 lately. Truck is now drivable, first truck pull is this Saturday. It won't be competitive, but it should be fun!

Thanks, much appreciated. I kinda like the look of the louvers as well, very old-school, but they have to go. I can't see anything out the back with them on there. Will be swapping the tinted slider from my '77 into this soon. The slider in this truck is the factory one, and it is junk.
i too like the rear window louvers... i have them on my dually. i have mine painted red to match the truck.i have had them on for over 15 years. i have the canopy on the truck so you don't see them, but i never took them off when the canopy was put on so there staying put. have fun and good luck on saturday, hopfully you will give us an update after the pull.
