I agree on the bolt outs, I've used them a few times, once on starter bolts at the junkyard. They work great, and can get you out of a bad situation.

I purchased the bolt remover posted above. Wow, I should have asked for these for my 12th birthday. The bolts came out easier than I could have imagined. Thanks

This may be an old thread, but I find myself having a similar issue. I just bolt some bolt socket extractors from harbor freight and I have a problem.

9 Piece 3/8" Drive Metric Bolt Extractor Sockets

It only grips if I try and tighten the bolt which does my no good at all. Am I doing something wrong???

Those might be designed to remove bolts with left handed threads.

I my bolt must be worst than I thought. I bought the sears ones and the slip off too. I'm going to have a friend weld on a socket today.

Are you guys using 6 point sockets? That will help tremendously, anyone that works on old rusty vehicles should have 6 point sockets.

Also, if you are trying to take a 9/16 headed bolt out, sometimes a 6 point 14mm will work. 14mm is very close to a 9/16, but it's just a tad smaller so sometimes it will save you if it's not too bad.

Yep, those things are the best I've seen. The home mix penetrating solution of acetone and trans fluid is the most amazing thing I've used in a while too.
