dead battery?
3yr old alternator (replaced original) and battery
2 mo. old clutch interlock switch/starter relay (both original)
replaced original starter last night.
Truck had a tough time starting on Sunday so I shut it off and tried again - nothing. Bi-passed the starter solenoid, sparks but didn't start. Tapped on starter as wife turned the key, started but with a bad grinding noise. replaced starter - Duralst LLT warranty from Autozone.
Its been started 8x since I replaced the starter and has been driven 70 miles (mostly hwy) but just left me stuck in the grocery store lot. Tied to jump it and heard about 3 clicks but wouldn't start. Tried again and nothing once I turned the key. No door beeping, radio, or lights.
Waiting for the wife to get home so I can get back to the truck.
I'm assuming the battery but just wanted to make sure. Thougts?
Have you checked the battery connections? Maybe clean the posts and terminals.
STan
checked all connections: battery>starter relay>solenoid>starter. Everything seemed clean and snug.
it started after the 4th attempt. It either got some power (a beep or two) or it was dead before that. It appears to be either the ignition switch or ignition (lock/key). The ignition was able to be started w/o a key for a while or the key could come out while running. I figure I might as well replace both while I am in there plus they are cheaper than a new battery.
