i did have to adjust the slider on my gooseneck and i have a adjustable reese hitch for my other trailers. one good thing though nobody else can pull my gooseneck because of the ball height so it doesn't get barrowed much
like i said before, anyone with the right dollar can make anything work, as for the lifted diesels not working as off-road vehicles, you aint done much looking at diesel comps. mudding is a favorite especially with the guys that have tall and narrow tires, the boats that dorks put on are not effective!
We have a lot of hot shot trucks hauling equipment out to drill rigs here.
Some the rigs are in bad places, so next is big tires and lifts so the tires don't hit.
Then they go out to a rig, with all the turns and up and down hill to get to the rigs.
So soon you start seeing smashed bed side rails on trucks pulling goose neck trailers.
I am not going to say I have never seen a stock height truck with smashed bed rails, but once they jack them up, there are a lot more.
Running 33" tires raised my truck an inch.
Running 350 spring blocks raised the rear 2" more.
Installing the dump bed raised the bed floor 8" higher.
Sure does get to be a drag loading or unloading anything heavy since the bed floor is 11" over stock height.
I suffer through it though because unloading trash, rock, gravel or dirt don't take a shovel any more.
When I get around to it I am going to do a 3 inch body lift on the cab and front clip and build a flat bed at stock height with an extended headache rack to compensate. just my 2 cents worth.
Another thing you might want to think about - How big of tires do you want to run? On my gasser I had 37's and it was a dog till I changed the gears in the rear end to keep it in the power range when I was towing. A night and day difference!!!!
right the axle has a certain amount of tires with stock gears. It is different for each ratio of gears as one can use common sense to figure out. The funny part is how there are so many people out there with the wrong ratio because they slapped on a huge set of tires. They always complain about how their truck feels gutless and are looking for ways to improve power. Too damn funny. No deano i am not cracking on you since you had the common sense to change them out. Good work! hahaha
