Not getting sound from Cd Player

i just hard wired a cd player in my 81 f100 to replace the tape player because the previous owner cut the wiring harness. To my knowledge everything is hooked up right but im not getting and sound to the speakers. The speakers are hooked up fine because they worked before i unhooked the tape player but something is wrong. The cd player comes on and lights up, you can turn it up and everything but the speakers dont even crackle. And its not muted. Ive tryed wiring them to the front and the rear speakers but neither one works. I dunno what my problem is and its driving me crazy.

Someone pease help.

Question 1. Did the CD player work before you connected it?

Question 2. Can you try hooking speakers to the CD player outside of the truck?

Question 3. How are the speakers wired in the truck? Do the positive and negative leads connect to the head unit, or is the negative lead grounded to the chassis? Make sure that you don't have your polarity crossed.

Good luck.

Can you post a pic of the wiring?

1. I bought it from a friend, he said it worked fine. If it dont i get my money back

2. the speakers worked yesterday with the tape player that was in it

3. The polarities are matched up and the harnessin the back on the cd player has positive and negative wires. there is a ground wire coming from the back of the cd player that grounds in the dash.

here is a pic i somewhat labeled. Beware its messy lol

I think that the wire that is labled "Main Power" is actually your antenna. Make sure that none of the unused speaker wires are touching, or you can short out the output transformer in the CD player.

I would venture that you either have a short somewhere with all of the exposed connections, or the CD player may not work. Do you have a diagram that describes which wire from the CD player goes to which speaker? I have a hunch that something is crossed. I am afraid that I have not been much help other than telling you what you probably already knew. Good luck!

yea that is the antenna im just retarded lol.

i just completely unhooked it and im gonna try to see if one of my friends knows what is goin on. i dunno.

i can tell you anything you need to know about a guitar or amp but cant hook up a cd player lol. im thinkin the cd player is messed up tho because theoretically all i would need hooked up for it to work is the power antenna and the speakers but i dunno.

ill figure somethin out. but i appreciate your help 4caster

what i did in my Lincoln was never hooked up the remote wire. For a year and a half i thought i was retarded till my uncle was like your remote is not hooked up. I replied i never put an amp in... ford put a factory one in for me before i got the car and after this little dilemma i know they might be hiding around any radio wiring issue. Just figured i'd tell you that so long as you don't go a year and a half in you're girlfriends car without a radio you'll be doin better than me
