Whats the general rule of thumb for breaking in a new engine?

Dont rev over 4000 for the first 500 miles and dont tow with it for the first 1000 miles.

Use the regular oil specified and leave it in for at least 3000 miles. Try to drive at varied speeds instead of using speed control. Avoid wide-open throttle. Check oil at every gas fill - sometimes new engines use oil. If it doesn't stop within 1000 miles, you have a problem. At the first oil change, use the oil specified, including regular, synthetic blend or full synthetic. Stay with the recommended oil for the life of the engine - never go to a heavier weight.
