wierd ac problem
i have an 05 1ton with the 6.0 and i have a strange ac prob. if the temp is turned to max being 60 or 65 deg or if the fan is turned above the second setting the air blows through the defroster. i think it is a vacume prob since this is a used truck, i had ford pull all records and in 07 it had the same simptoms. My question to you is, how can i test the pump other than spending 200 plus for a pump from the ford house. any help is appreciated

The last time I was troubleshooting a vacuum problem on my truck I used a hand vac pump with a gauge on it. I basically pulled a line off the pump and then the actuator and pumped up about 20 in/hg and watched the gauge to see where the vacuum would fall off. Mine turned out the a bad solenoid. It would open and close but wouldn't hold vacuum after operating a few times. If you can get your hands on a vacuum pump with a gauge you can use just the gauge part and see how much vacuum your pump is pulling.
