Oh yeah... I've got about 166k now. I'll be replacing my LPOP with a Melling. I also can't decide it the $400+ is worth going with a Fluidampr. I can get a brand new stock one for $68 shipped.
I dont sis this while in the truck but i pulled my motor. Mine has been leaking also. No sure how hard itis to get to but after you pull the harmonic balancer, there are 4 bolts in the oil pump cover. the seal is in it. I dont think you have to take it off but it might be easier to press in the new seal. If you need a pic or something i can get good ones right now just let me know.
If you get a new oil pump, most likely it will have the main seal in it, and your problem will be fixed. I have a Melling pump and housing on the way, i'll let you know tomorrow.

Thanks, I look forwarding to seeing if the Melling pump has the seal installed. That would be awesome.
I recall a short debate as to weather pulling the radiator is really necessary. Anyone remember this??? It seems like the extra space would be useful for installing the new seal but getting the LPOP off with the radiator in place doesn't look to be a pain. Then again.... Maybe the extra space was just for getting to crank pulley off.
yea but the damper is a bit of a pain to remove, yes?
Not if you have the right puller.
I guess you could leave the radiator in,but the extra room is nice.
(little bit of fudge room to help not damage it)
For the little bit of time it takes to remove / reinstall,I would error on the side of caution.
The puller you use to get the harmonic balancer off, could make it tight enough to the point where you risk slicing arms and other body parts on the fins, plus no one wants to bend fins over
