I just bought my 05 F250 6.0 4x4. I was washing it yesterday and noticed that the "FORD" part that you turn to lock in the hub, is missing on the drivers side. I am trying to find one online to replace it. Not sure exactly what to search for, where to look? I looked on Ebay but foung the whole hub. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, how does that come off? Does it just pull out? I tried getting the passenger side off, just so I would know how it comes off/on, but couldn't get it off.
Just bumping this to see if anyone has any thoughts? I found hub ***** for OLD Broncos and stuff, nothing for newer. I just bought this truck, if they come off easy, I will just go to the dealer and take one off the other '05 they have, lol. Let me know!
Most likely if you do try and pull the hub off you will have a hard time and it will end up being junk anyways. The auto hubs almost always quit working after a while. If you do replace them i defiantly suggest aftermarket manual locking ones. try superwinch if warn does not offer them.
It seems to be a mystery how that **** is in there. I never looked very deeply into it but you can get a used hub and you will have spare parts. You can free up the **** by drilling a hole in it and injecting some silicone spray in it if it needs it. Someone probably broke that one trying to free it. I love my ESOF hubs!
2005 and up have three allen-head screws holding the cover onto the hub. Is the **** itself just not there, or the entire chrome cover and **** are missing?
