Chipped???

Recently bought a used "03 F350 6.0L that seems to have been "chipped" but have no programmer. (learning the hard way) Would it be best to flash back to factory settings and go from there, or is there a way to get another programmer? Im pulling 13000 lbs. daily and dont know what is on there or what is set. I'm new to the forums as well as the tuner end of things and any assistance would be appreciated.

Yes, going to stock before putting a tuner on it is the ideal method. Some tuners put a foot print on the file, this foot print makes the file size odd and it can keep some tuners from recognizing the file. They also can try to use the file in the PCM as the base line which will throw any built in corrections off.

You can get lucky and use a tuner that will provide you with your stock calibration (once you give them your PCM code.) Then you can use that as the base line instead of the file currently in the PCM.

Thanks alot! Any suggestions as to what tuner i should go with once it is back to stock? I pull about 13000 lbs daily on a gooseneck and would just like to get the biggest bang for the buck without having to worry about tearing something up.

The semi custom tunes from companies like SCT are well liked here. I am running a Special Forces suite on mine, but I write the tune on a pc and upload up to the PCM. This option is a little more involved and you could probably screw it up if tried hard. It's a great setup with the data logger, but it sound like you want a simpler option of having the tune written for you.
