what is this thingie

Im 800 hundred miles from home at a friends house when I found a vacum line that is broken off of some kind of module next to the vacum manifold located on the left front fender.

Other lines go to brake booster, vacum pump and a couple of smaller lines that go off to god only knows where.

Any clue as to what this module does. Looks like a hockey puck with a 3-wire connector coming out of the side. The vacum line goes in to the center of the flat side of the puck. I need to replace it but i don't know what to ask for.

I'm also having a brake issue and was also wondering if they are connected.

Thanks Guys as always.

That is the low-vacuum warning sensor. It makes the "brake" light come on if there is low vacuum since the brakes work on vacuum.

Thanks - I have a 94 IDI turbo K series F350 with OD transmission. Would this vacumm alarm effect anything else in the truck such as the shifting or brakes

If the hose is broken off and open, the resulting vacuum leak will drop the power of the brakes.

Transmission is electronic, so nothing affected there.

Heater may default to defrost only.

Cruise control may not work if so equipped.

I think 1994 has an all electronic cruise control module, but I'm not sure.

Since the line is relatively small, it probably won't kill your power breaks completely, but it will reduce the performance.
