Okay, I have the Mazda M50D transmission that still won't go in. So, I would just like to know from any Ford tech's if they had as much trouble to put one of these things in?
The first thing is you have to have the clutch friction disc centered on the flywheel so that the splined hub on the disc is dead in line with the pilot bearing.
Second you must feed the trans into position straight. Look at the edges of the bellhousing as you feed it in, the gap top and bottom and left and right between the faces should be equal at all times and in line.
Third it is a good idea to turn the engine over a little as you feed the trans in to make sure the splines on the shaft and clutch plate mesh easily.
Hope this helps.
All good advice from Lazy K.
I also made some "guide pins" by getting long bolts that thread into the engine block and cutting off the heads.
