I need Help with a leek

Its been raining forever.

I had a bit of a drip around the drivers side grab handle, dripping down onto the dash. Then, I noticed it down around the parking break. I ran some tape along the windshield seal and the leak went away...I brought it to a windshield shop to get it re-sealed, but they couldn't get it to leak and said they were sure it was not the windshield.

I think it is the windshield, but is there anywhere else the water could come from?

The headliner is not wet and the grommets in the door jamb are all good.

Any ideas.

thank you

It may not be the "windshield" but the seal. It may only leak under different temperature and/or humidity conditions. A compitent shop should pull the molding and reseal the area in question.

That's what I thought.

I'm I right in my thinking that the headliner would be wet if the clearance lights were leaking?

If you take the inside plastic pcs off down the pillars and get a flashlight you will be able to trace the leak. At that point you can get under the headliner enough to check if it is the clearance lights. You should be able to see either water or water spots in the dusty tracks left behind. Have someone run a hose on the outside with a small stream of water to help narrow it down. If you still can't find any, get some soupy water on the outside of the windshield and compressed air on the inside and you will find the leak that way. The outside moulding is very hard to remove without destroying it, because it is attached to the glass before it is put in. If and when you find the leak, you can seal it from the inside, but I would suggest you either take it in or go buy a tube of the right urathane from a glass shop and do it yourself. Do not use silicone, because it will not work! I know this, because I have been an installer for the last 13 yrs.
