Help!! Truck throttle delay
I have an 85 F-250 diesel 2WD 4spd (6.9 IDI) I bought my truck after it was sitting for 2 years, but after bypassing the water separator, and adding 10 gal of fuel, it cranked right up, PASSED inspection, and has been running since. It only has 110k miles, and I have replaced all "O" rings on the injectors, replaced the fuel and air filter, changed the oil, and now when I start the truck, it cranks right up, and goes, but there is about a 3-5 second throttle delay. It also cuts off everytime you press the clutch to down shift, or stop, and also when you rev really high, on the way down, it cuts right off. But, right after, it starts like it never missed a beat. When the throttle finally hits, it is great, has plenty of power, and goes. Even when you are on the highway (55mph) you can floor it, and basically count to 3 before the truck goes anywhere. I can only think maybe a clog in the injector pump, another fuel filter, or some hidden fuel leak I can't find, but I was hoping maybe someone here might have another suggestion before I go out and blow a bunch of money. make sure your fuel filter is tight, and all the fittings in the filter houseing. sounds like your sucking a little air. you will have better responce in the diesel forums, those people are a little more firmiliar with the diesels problems
