Continues Code 18
I've got 2 modules and switch them.. doesn't make any difference.
I remember this happening a couple of years ago.. and I changed the Distributor...I've order a remanufactured one... tomorrow put it in.
See my other post on intermittent engine shut-off. Also poor performance when warmed up.
Probably put in new module as well, although I'm going to try with old one first.
I believe something in the distributer heats up. I have searched this forum and internet for answer.. and others have this problem and never come back and report their findings.
KOEO Code 18 C
6 years on a module was enough and as long as I was putting in the distributor so I decided "what the hell!" Actually had 2 modules, one Motorcraft and one Wells.. that I kept switching from time to time for 6 years and about 60k miles....could be both had gone bad.
Truck running great.....took care of the intermittent shutoff that I thought was the ignition switch. Don't know if the Code 18 was from the module or the distributor.. but it's working. Changed the distributor a couple of years ago when I had the same problem, but thought I should get more mileage from a distributor.
One thing that is bothering me.... can't seem to find the older white dialectic grease.. all of it now is the clear stuff, and seems to be thinner....maybe causing more heat to the module... so I put a good amount of it on both sides and hand tighten the module on the distributor so not to squeeze it out.
