Hey guys, I bought an 04 Supercrew lariat a few weeks ago, black with black leather and chrome 20's and no other chrome whatsoever. My deal is, I wanna ditch the 20's and go with some 17's and 305's with the installed 2" leveling kit and add a leaf, so I gotta know 2 things. First, can I fit any given set of 17's on my truck or are they a specific offset, or should I go with 18's? Second, I need some chrome, its way too black. What's too much? I was thinking door handles, wheel well trim, rocker panels, mirror covers, and vent visors... I'd like to see some pics of any black 04+ with some chrome so I can decide what to do. Thanks alot guys!
Here is a link to a thread I did a week or so ago about my 2005 Super Crew that I bought with chrome fender trim and door handle trim. I took the trim off last week and had to buy new stuff to put back on as the fender trim wore a groove in the paint above the wheel wells. It will be a good comparison for you in the least. I must warn though, if you put on fender trim be sure you will like it because it will eat through your paint.
I dont know that I would go as far as the mirror and vent visors being chrome though, to me it would seem like a bit of overkill, but thats just me. IAC, enjoy the new truck!

Thanks BigdaddyII! Not to dis but I honestly liked the look of yours better with the chrome....... Thats a good comparison though! They make good fender trim with rubber behind as to not scratch the paint like happened to yours. And Tylus, I want a slightly wider footprint so I cant go with a stock one. But my question I guess is more or less can I use a Chevy 17" and still have it fit around the caliper and stuff? Thanks guys keep on bringing the pics!
you are perfectly safe running up to a 305 width tire on the OEM rims...which are 7.5" wide
the OEM Expy rims 2007+ are 8.5" wide
alot of guys actually run a 315 or 325 width tire on their stocker rims.
For aftermarket rims, IMO the Moto Metals can't be beat. They look awesome. Saleen has some 23" rims as well in a 305/40/23 tire that look just awesome...especially on black trucks.
check out my Photobucket for the OEM 20x8.5 rims my Expy has. their only 275 width for now, but the tires are huge....and all that chrome looks awesome against the black

NO
they are both 6 lug...but have different lug spacing. You'd have to buy and adapter set for all 4 wheels to make them work
Don't go overboard on the chrome. There is an 04-08 F150 just up the street from me that has every aftermarket add on chrome piece you can imagine and it looks hideous, tacky as hell. There is nothing wrong with some chrome, but know when to say when.
Yeah I understand I could get 305's on stock wheels but stock wheels are not my choice I want aftermarkets. I like helos, but what I'm asking is: is there a difference between the bells of a wheel that might not let them fit 17's without hitting the caliper? The bolt pattern is 4.7mm off from a chevy and my 20's fit perfect on my buddy's silverado. So the bolt pattern will fit, I just need to know if wheels that small will hit the caliper unless they are specific bell for the F150. Thanks
You will probably have to try it yourself to find out.Not trying to sound like an a$$, but I haven't heard of anybody else that has tried to fit Chevy wheels on a 04-08 F150.
