Starting 4 projects today...pics (soon)

Well today is the big day...After a lot of saving and planning I am finally getting around to starting some projects I have been wanting to do on my truck. I figured that while I am sitting around trying to find a job I might as well do something useful.....and fun

This is what I was hoping to knock out in the next few days/week (or 2 lol)

1. I am going to pull the seats/carpet and put down herculiner on the floorboard of the truck (and maybe the rocker panels...it depends on how I feel after everything is back together)
2. While the seats are out I am going to install an 08 center console
3. Going to install a mount for my laptop in the cab
4. Going to install some drain holes in the floorboard of the truck. I am going to cut them the same size as the drain holes in the new Jeeps so I can use the Jeep floor plugs. That way I can just hose out my truck after mudding/playing etc.
(maybe #5) If I can find another 40/20/40 seat for cheap I might install that in the back of my CC along with another 08 center console so I can finally have the 4 capt chairs setup...but that all depends on the money

If yall have any tips or things I could do to complete any of these jobs faster please let me know.

I will be sure to post pictures throughout the "adventure"

Only tip I have is make sure you prep it good for the herculiner otherwise it will flake off in no time.

That is what I keep hearing from folks who have used it...I bought some sanding/scoring pads for my drill as well as some 60grit sandpaper.

I am going to take my time w/the prep...then do more just to make sure I do it correctly

This is what has been completed so far and it was FILTHY under the seats.

I am calling it for now...it just reached 101 outside (w/heat index of 104 and still rising) and its pretty darn toasty. I am going to hold off until this evening when it begins to cool off a little.

I Link to my webshots w/all of todays pics

I can only find then on Ebay for a normal price. I checked at the stealership and the parts guy said they dont have entire thing built and I had to order the parts individually and assemble it...which on ebay they are around 130-170 but if I had ordered each part from the stealership it would total over $300

Well this morning I woke up early before church and starting grinding w/the sanding attachment for my drill. I was able to knock out all of the major areas...I still have to go back in and finish up some smaller areas by hand. I have to get ready for church right now but I will post a pic afterwards.

Looks good.

Use some naptha or something similar to clean the surface before bonding the paint/liner.

I wonder if the herculiner will be OK its applied on top of the sound deadener (rubber) stuck on the floor?
It may flake or peel off IMO.

Looks good. I wish I had that much ambition in temperatures like that.

I picked up some acetone that I was going to use to prep/clean the surface
How does naptha rank compated to acetone/MEK/Xylene? I have never used it.

I was actually wondering the same thing, I had planned on taking the stuff off until I found out how much it was stuck onto the floor. My plan is to apply the liner over the rubber (I already roughed it up w/the grinder) and see how it works out. If it doesnt bond...that will be a project for another weekend.
