Delo 15w40

What do guys think, I am not trying to start an oil debate, just interested in your thoughts.

I recently started using the Delo 15w40 my last oil change with the ususl MC oil filter. Prior to I used Rotella 15w40 and MC 15w40 with no complaints, I think both are good oils. The reason on switching was I read somewhere the Delo was a good oil and consumption was lower with our 7.3's

With the Rotella I would sometimes use 2 quarts between 5000 mile changes. With the Delo I only use 1 quart. I am not sure why this is, but I am happy with that.

FWIW, I've used both with no difference in performance or oil consumption. Both are good stuff for our engines.

Not going to start a debate with me. Both are good oils. I have used Rotella dino and synthetic and now Schaeffers synthetic. All have worked well with zero oil cunsumption except with the occasional hard pull

Welcome to FTE by the way

I can endorse Delo as a good oil, I've used it for about 45 years, but virtually all diesel-rated oils will do the job.

I maintain one other 7.3 besides my own, and use Rotella in it with equal results.

Both of these engines are stockers, so I can't speak for high-performance oils in high-performance engines.

Welcome to FTE.

I've used Delo15w40, Rotella 15w40 and Rotella 5w40 synthetic. Haven't noticed any difference in oil consumtion or how the truck runs with the 15w40 in it. Big difference, however, with the 5w40 synthetic. Stars better cold, runs quieter, etc.

On that note, I don't think I'm going to run 15w40 anymore. I've had numerous cases of the romps lately, usually never happens when the temp is above 40 or so but I had it happen yesterday and it was 68 degrees.

Well, I used Delo once, and dumped it short. Didn't like it at all compared to Rotella. Never got romps until I put that stuff in. Been using Syn Rotella 5W-40 now for 2 1/2 years. Still wanting to try Schaeffer Oil, but have yet to get some...

I like it. My truck seems a little bit louder with the Rotella Synthetic, don't know if it's because of the lighter viscosity or not. My truck really ran quite with 15-40 Amsoil, but dang that stuffs expensive! I would really like to try Schaffers.

I like it now that I just received my Blackstone report. It's been said that it has a great additive package, and it shows in my report.

Thanks guys for your feedback. I certainly know Rotella has a great standing in the diesel oil field. For some reason my truck likes the Delo??

By the way, if you have a Costco nearby, last week the Delo was on price reduction at $52 for a 6 gallon case.
