I just got through rebuilding the A0D in my pickup. My question is if buy a slim chance if anybody out there would know anything about this. When I got done rebuilding it, I had a plastic piece that looks like a T with a dome on top left over. It also has a rubber square cut seal around it. I have narrowed it down to something in the valve body but my book shows me that it doesnt exist. Any suggestions. Thanks
It's not the factory seal for the dipstick tube hole, is it? You can twirl one of those like a top. Put in the dipstick hole in the trans to seal it closed at the trans factory, then when vehicle is assembled, the dipstick tube gets rammed into the hole, pops the seal thing down into the trans pan. Where the first person to drop the pan finds it, and wonders where it fell out of!
Didn't know that/why a rebuild kit would include one of those, if that is what it is.
Kinda funny aint it, you go outside and it's not raining, there aren't any clouds anywhere, and you find out it's a clear sunny day.

In the cool still quiet of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
It happens. Now I have a few other concerns. I finally got the darn thing in yesterday. It wouldnt shift out of first, so I readjusted the TV cable, and it solved most of my trouble. But, sometimes when I come to a stop sign and go to take off it doesnt kick down into first untill I give it a little bit of pedal. Also, if Im cruising at about thirty or so and throw it into manual low it doesnt ingage until about 15 mph or so. But, my main concern is a noise I have. Sometimes, but not always, I hear what almost sounds like a grinding noise, but its not. To me it sounds more like fluid is escaping somewhere. This occurs on the 3-4 shift and only for about a second. The shift quality on all shifts is just about perfect, other than the typical AOD promblem of upshifting to quick. The only thing I can think of is when I was putting the servo and accumulator springs in I was a little questionable on which one went where but I am pretty positive I got it right. I didnt install a shift kit but plan to in a little bit. I think it might be the governer but thought if there was somebody on here that had more experience on these transmisions than what I had, I had better check before I go ripping my hair out. Thanks
Ok I have seen several different ways to adjust the TV Cable. I wonder if Im doing it right. The way I was told to do it was to hold the lever on the tranny to the rear as possible after unlocking the tab on the Throttle Body and then lock it. Is this right or not. Thanks
