I often search through old pages of the forums here in order to learn about my truck.
In my recent searches, I've found that the archives have been wiped clean.
I was just beginning to feel like I should become a supporter of the site...
then BANG, years of info have been removed.
It appears our new updates contain things like cool new smiley faces.

Don't forget, we've also got a new search engine that doesn't work.
FYI: When searching for something within this forum it's often easier to just go to google and enter "site:www.ford-trucks.com 1973-1979" plus whatever you're looking for. This will often return the thread you want on the first try - even if it's been archived. However, that doesn't help you to just scroll through and read.
All is not lost. When the forum was updated it changes settings in everyone's control panel. When I got on the first time after the update I could only see posts from 6/10 and forward.
Check your UserCP and make sure under Edit Options, Thread Display Options, that you have it set to show all
Ya, my settings were "view last threads from last two weeks" or something like that. Because I thought the same thing............Damn it, all the archives were deleted, but that's not the case. I still don't like the search function, but oh well.

I agree with you. I have never had much luck with forum searches anywhere.
I try to use the search feature as little as often, and when I do have to use it,t takes anywhere from 30minutes to several hours to find the one thread I was looking for.
yeah. the search function BLOWS. I was tryin to update "Josh's 79 F150", so i typed that in the search section and i get 5 other posts, and not one of them was what i typed in
I couldn't agree more, I tried to do searches for great threads, only to find dozens of threads that had nothing to do with what I was searching for. I am sure it is not an easy task to have it set up to run more efficienty, then then I am not computer wizard either, just frustrated with searches sometimes.
I find it easier to just post a fresh thread, and hope somone doesn't get annoyed because the same thread and answer was JUST posted last week.
I'm not quite sure what happen to the search feature, it actually used to be pretty good, now it's just completely useless.
If the admins want to get an idea of a search that actually works they should take a look or talk to the folks over at VWVortex.com. That search works!
When i use the search feature, i ALWAYS go to "advanced" and search ONLY thread names/titles, not the whole thread. It has worked for me so far. But it will only work if what you are searching for is in the title of the thread.
but i agree, the standard search should be TONS better than it is. I have been a part of forums for a very long time and this search feature is one of the worst i have ever used.
I understand why other new guys constantly put up new threads that have been answered hundreds of times.... the search feature is almost useless (unless if you search titles only)!!

Then maybe the search should default search to Thread titles and leave searching the searching the post body as a option.
