Turbo Timer Recommendations

After driving my buddys Dodge around this weekend with a turbo timer, I am really itching to get one for my truck. Want it to be able to tap into my pyrometer so it shuts down at a certain temperature. Also I would like it to be just a stand alone unit. Does anyone have recommendations on which brand to look at?

To get the most bang for your buck you don't want a timer you want a turbo monitor. If you use one like the Isspro Turbo Monitor it will shut the truck off at your chosen temperature not just time idle and waste fuel when it doesn't need to. They also recommend using a pyro probe that is post turbo for this application. Drop me a line if you need more info or anything. Thanks

does DP Tuner have a tune that could shut the truck down at like 350* with all the cool tunes they have i would think they could do this pretty easily.... but who knows.

Yes that is what I want. I want it to shut down about 375-400 degrees. Can the Isspro tap into the thermocouple pre-turbo?

You can but that temp goes down much faster than post turbo temps. Which will lead to it shutting down a little early still. Installing a post turbo pyro is really easy and isn't expensive.

What is your pyro temp at shutdown? Mine is between 300 and 400 so I never bothered with the turbo timer. I just pull it to the parking spot nice and easy and shut down. OTOH, if you want to do a spirited run and then shut down immediately and walk away, a turbo timer might be a good thing to have.

ya mine is always about 300 to 400 too. i don't have to wait long at all. It would be good for towing though i would imagine.

Same thing when towing my RV. You don't race the RV down the line and shut down instantly, do you? I know I don't and by the time I have shut it off, it is about 300-400

Yes I always wait for the EGTs to get under 400 before shutting it down. They say it really helps save the turbo if one waits for the EGTs to come down before shutting it down.

Not really. Like I said, do you race at WOT to your destination and shut down immediately? If your destination is the end of the quarter mile track, sure. OTOH, when I go home, I usually ease it down driving thru city streets and the neighborhood and coast to the parking spot. By that time it is about 400 deg. Take off the seat belt and grab any packages in the car and shut down.

that means I should have no problem shutting down after cruising down the hwy. My recent trip to Seattle showed that my EGT's run about 350° to 400°, no load of coarse.
