Well I first noticed it in my diesel, between 42 mph to 53 mph cruising it feels like my engine is missing, but its not, I can hear all 8 cylinders fire, but if I hit the accelerator, it goes away. My Ag teacher and diesel mentor told me it was something to do with my lock up. So what could it be, I want to figure this out cause my aunts Tauras does the same thing, and if I can figure it out on mine then I would like to help her out. Please tell me I don't need to replace the torque converter. Is there anything it can be besides the torque converter? Thanks guys much appreciated.
I believe that is the torque converter lock up range between 40 and 50 mph. You can pull the codes and see if there is an issue, but a hard shifting torque converter lock up isnt necessarily a bad thing. A torque converter that doesnt lock up when it is suppose to will cause a loss in fuel mileage.

My F-250 was doing the same thing except at 35-45 mph. I took it to a transmission shop the guy changed the fluid and put an additive in the trans. Worked fine for a couple of months. Last Saturday I was driving up an 11% grade. Had to stop half way up the grade due a bus that stopped in the middle of the road. Anyway when I started back up moving in traffic the trans really started shifting bad. Replaced the trans got it back yesterday.
