Hi All
Ive got an 2006 F-250 with the V-10 and its been having a few issues.
1st issue- occasional rough idle at cold start. It only lasts for a few seconds then everything returns to normal.
2nd issue- intermittent loss of power and severe bogging at highway speeds (75-80mph). If i go full throttle from a rolling start it accelerates strong all the way up to highway speeds. Its happened twice and I haven't been able to recreate the problem.
I scanned for codes after the first instance and came up with a fuel rail pressure sensor code. I replaced the sensor and the fuel filter and all was well for over a month then yesterday it happened again. This time it bogged until it stalled. Upon restart its running fine now. It did throw a code but I don't have my scan tool with me.
This morning I replaced the fuel filter again and unhooked the battery to reset the computer. So far no issues and it runs fine.
Any ideas?
The first time was with a loaded stock trailer (about 8500 to 9000 lbs) in drive with the tow haul on and yesterday was unloaded in drive. I didnt notice the rpms because I was trying to get the truck safely off the highway both times. Next time I'll make sure to notice.
Thanks for your help
Will do tomorrow. I havent ever done that but I can surely figure it out?
Im off to find specs for fuel pressure on my truck .
Thanks for the help I appreciate it.
There is a cap on the fuel rail that screws off and attach a gauge, this should tell you if the fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator are working, once you know what the pressure should be.
Today was busier than I thought and I didn't get a chance to check it.
I'm trying to figure out how to test it under load.
It ran fine all day pulling a trailer and the check engine light hasn't came back on.
I did figure this out today. When the check engine light came on it was flashing at first then went to solid. I think a flashing check engine light means detonation and pinging. Just another clue in this puzzle.
