junkyard trip

ok i went to all 2 of my towns junk yards today only one has anything use full

say they have 3.00:1 rear ends for $250 good deal?
also they ''say'' they got a 53-56 dump back in there, of course they dont know what size(ford guy chevy town)

do the doors get any bigger as you go up in size or do they stay the same?

also they got 460 for $550 and 429 suposedly in good condition for $800
definatly not going for the 429 unles its some hot rod or cj motor

are these good deals
hoping to go back tomorow

door sizes on 53-56 trucks are the same universally on the conventional cabs, cabovers - radiused lower leading corner.
cab on the bigger trucks is also universal, except coe.
condition is everything, but those prices sound about right. what is the 3.00 rearend? I've seen explorer r axles go for $600-$800. the crawler guys want 'em too.
9" rears range from $100 to over a grand depending on what they are and condition.

I've seen old t-birds that had 429's in em going for less than 2200 for thye entire car. $800 for just an engine, you can do better...It's not like those engines are even that great.

Good luck.

A nine inch here runs for 150 at the pick n pull, engines are 250 regardless of make or size. Every year they have a half off day, 75 for a rear end, 125 for an engine.

Keep in mind that 53-55 doors interchange. 56 doors are unique to 56 model trucks. Good day.
