Sorry Lowdown... I just got layed off from the PD last month... I guess I just want somebody to share the misery with.
Sorry to here Trax, my job is dangling by who can get the first shot at who's corroded artery first. So I do partly feel your misery....like my boss says, I feel like a scuba diver with a seagull sitting on top my snorkle.
I went with michigan66's method. From what I could tell the frame is still straight. It is going to the shop shortly so I will have them check it just to be sure.
And yes, Traxxis, I gave you a rep for your input.

I have gotten the 2000 home from the body shop. It looks MARVELOUS!! I had to buy new tires for it to be put on the front for the alignment. The wife says it drives...SSSMMMOOOTTTHHH. The only part of the frame that was bent was the drivers side frame horn that took most of the impact. The body man worked it out with a hammer. After they took out the bedliner, inspection revealed that the stepside bed wasn't salvageable. It was crushed behind the left tail light and the floor. The left fender had damage, too. So, they picked up a replacement bed at the local yard. They were able to fix the tailgate. Back of the cab fixed, bed on, new bumper on, deep black paint with clear coat and it looks NICE!! Cost to the guy (insurance co.) that hit me....$3900.00. It came so close to being totaled.
