Question 2004 F250 Harley Davidson 6.0 Torqshift

Neighbors .... I'm tryin' to do this right, so I've read the article and the posts regarding transmission flush and other topics. The immediate question is ... how does the flush procedure drain the torque converter if the transmission sends only 10% of the fluid to the cooler and only after the transmission temperature is high enough to open the thermostat? I hope that I missed something because I don't want to pay the $150 that the dealer wants for labor to flush the transmission plus the $140 for that gold filled fluid that Ford invented. thanks ... ron

The dealers heated flush machine will force out all of the old fluid and replace it with the good stuff. You should have them replace the frame mounted filter while they're at it.

It costs a few bucks, but a replacement transmission costs a lot more.

The transmission only sends 10% of the flow to the coolers until the thermostat opens, then it sends 100%. That's why you need the trans warmed up and a heated flush machine.
