Hello all,
I've been noticing over a period of about 9 months to a year that my truck has slowly over time gotten slower to start, it did this prior to installing the CPR fuel system and continues now. The starter still cranks pretty good though I sometimes notice it being a tad slow, the battery's are @ 2 years old, new alternator. I'm going to get the battery's checked to eliminate that as a cause. The truck currently has @ 142,500 miles on it, glow plugs and relay have not been touched in 100,000 miles, thought this may be a factor but it is 80+ degrees and it still starts slow. It seems to do it more when warm than cold, when cold it fire's pretty quick. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Get the batteries fully charged and then with them off the truck have them load tested. Also, clean all the battery and starter connections. Even if they "look" clean and tight take them apart and clean and retighten them. If it still persists then your starter may be heading south.
I am having similar symptoms, except i can tell when my truck cranks that it is sluggish i took all four clamps loose and cleaned them. tightened them down and found that one of my clamps is broken and i cant tighten it all the way down. i will be replaceing my cables very soon. Just a suggestion of something to look into.
Ihad a similar issue when i bought my truck the previous owner had installed two 600cca batteries which in my opinion is not enough the small batteries in turn caused the starter to burn up I installed two 1000cca batteries and a brand new high quality starter and have not had any problems since
