BAck-up Light switch location.

Hello everyone, I was wondering where do I find the Back-up light switch? I have tried search, but for some reason search brings up everything but what I am looking for.

I kind of don't have the patients right now as I have been under a '95 Aerostar for the last week fixing issues that keep cropping up on the ladies van.

Oh forgot o mention if this may help Transplanted 460, w/C6

Any help would be appriciated, Thanks.
Don.

See the red switch there next to the hoist's leg?
That's what it looks like and where it's at, on a T18. LOL :)

Don't know if that's going to help you or hinder you, but there it is anyway. :)

It depends on the year of the truck. My '76 is on the steering column under the dash, by '79 it was on the transmission slipped over the shift lever and held on by two small bolts that like to sheer off.

Yeah mines a 78 SuperCab 4x4 F150 with a C6. The issue is I don't have any reverse back-up lights. Wiring/Grounds/Bulbs are good. Figure it's a open or bad switch.

Ive had 4 different transmissions and 4 different backup light switches. When I had a C6, it was part of the neutral safety switch harness at the base of the steering column. Or more accurately part of the shifter guts inside the column. On my manual transmissions they have been mounted to various locations around the shift linkages or shifter tower.

On '73-'77 models its mounted on the steering column under the dash. On '78-'79 models its mounted on the transmission case with the shift lever going through it.
Is the 460/C-6 original or is it a swap?
If it was swaped, there's a good possibility that the trans. is not the correct one and doesn't have the mounting bosses that are required to mount the switch and the previous owner just went without.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the input guys it will at least gives me a more focused area to go. It's just annoying as the added light for backing up at nice would be nice, also I have had a few close calls with people zipping by behind me and myself almost hitting them. Of course it just pisses me off cause it's not like my truck is inconspicous or something. Yet they haven't payed attention.

I didn't think about the swap I am not sure if it was just a motor swap or motor and tranny swap. It's a 71 lincoln motor.
