Remove the two screws and pull out. It can be hard, but it they will come out. You can even place a piece of card board between the fender and light and use something thin to pry, just be carefull and don't scratch the paint.

How did you take your headlights out? I was thinking the adjusters came out with the headlights.

If you are talking about the one on the bottom outside slip a 12mm (IIRC) deep socket on to the back and it will depress the locking tabs. If the 12mm doesn't work try one smaller.

Robin is right. The last time I had mine out, I took adjusters and all out. The 05's didn't need them.

Has anyone done a detailed writeup on swapping out say '99s to the '04s? I just bought a set of OEM '04s to install in my '99 and think I need some guidence as to how to go about it-Thanks!

I don't have a offical write up but I do have a few pics that will help, and I will tell you a few tricks to save you time.

1. The turn signals come out with 2 phillps screws at the bottom. You may have to pull kind of hard to get the clips to release.

2. The headlights have two spring clip on the right and left. I suggest useing a magnetic pickup tool while you pry them out with a flat head screwdriver.
The clips are in the top right and the middle left, they are silver. If you don't use the magnet my clips seemed to find the tiny space in the header panel to squeeze down in and was a pain to get them out. The bottom clip on the headlights has to be squeezed together and pushed toward the front to release. Robin has a real good idea above about useing a socket to compress the clips, I wish I would have thought about this earlier. I found it was easier to take out both batteries on my 7.3 to give you extra space.

3. Once you have the old lights out you are going to have to swap out some stuff. (If you bought new lights that have all the adjustment clips on it you can skip this step.) I had three adjustment things to swap on my old light to the new.
This is a pic of what they look like, two of them will have a black box with them. Nevermind the zip ties I had to modify one of them because I was missing a clip. Two of them will switch no problem, the top one closest to the fender on both sides I had to do some work to.

My lights were used so the newer style clip that is on the headlight is a completely different shape. (The black clip in top right) You will have to take the screw part of the adjuster and pop it out of the old clip and push it into the newer clip. (The black one See Pics) You can see the black clip in the top right of the pic. The 99 style is different shape.

4. To put the new lights in I found that you are going to have to adjust out all the adjusters about one inch, so the lights will set flush out with the turnsignals.

5. After you have both sides in you will have to wait to night time and set on a level surface and use the adjusters to get the lights were you want them. Make sure and take it for a test drive because it may look right but once you take it for a drive they could be way off. Should look something like this

I know this is a crash course on it but I hope it helps. If you need anymore help just pm me and I will send more pics or try to walk you through it.

I just ordered the stock ones for my 99 because I thought it was a big deal to switch to the newer ones, cutting the header panel and wiring harness stuff. Is'nt this true? Maybe I should exchange them, they are plastic (seem kind of cheesy) are the newer ones glass or are they plastic as well?

Sorry if this is a hijack, not my intention, just seems silly starting a new post for same topic. Thanks much

The newer ones as in up to 04 are not that big of a deal. The 05-07 are the ones that you will need to cut the header panel. The ones in my pics are 04's and they are still plastic but much brighter. I would exchange for the 04's myself but that is just my thoughts. There is no wiring to deal with in the 04, just plug and play.
