OK so I had a confluance of events....my tranny ( E4OD ) has a slow leak; I knew about it, I topped it off regularly but did nothing about it....so shoot me, it's been cold and wet for several months...this morning I was running late, backed out of the driveway, came to a complete stop, put it in drive, gave it a little gas and it didn't move right away. I recognized this as a low pressure / fluid situation, and goosed it...aparently a little too hard. The truck rolled a little, then there was what I have in my head as an audible 'pop' and that was it. No movement in any gear, forward or reverse, not in 2x4, 4x4, or 4 low. It does roll freely in Neutral, and holds in Park. There are no new leaks, that I know of. I had a friend who had a nearly identicle thing happen with a Merkur Scorpio that had a 2.9l and an A4LD and we found the center inside the TC had broken, however, I'm not holding out too much hope. Any thoughts on this ??? The tranny sits behind a Lightening 351, and I believe was rebuilt a few years back. It has an inline external filter and an external cooler as well.
