jobeperformance.com intake

Does anyone have experiance with the Jobe Performance intake ???
I looked at the magizine ad today and it looks like the 6637 or afe big boost might fit in the box... as they move the battery (still under the hood) and include an Optima yellow top

That's a lot of money.

A couple of folks around here have a template for building your own CAI box for the 6637, but I do like the JOBE concept of slipping the battery to the back position and leaving more room diagonally for the filter element.

Is it just me or does that battery look much smaller than stock? I just started looking at building one for myself using the templates we made up. May have to look at putting the battery in the back.

There are better intakes on the MArket. My recommendation is the AFE Stage 2 or TYMAR intake, or you could also do a DIY intake

I have heard several bad stories about Jobe Performance. Nothing first hand.

I was more wondering if the bigger filters would fit in it

Reagan Jobe is an @$$ clown.

On his homepage, he claims to have a 7.3L Excursion that runs 14.88 @ 94.78 on stock injectors, and gets better than 25 MPG's. And he makes those claims running just an Edge EVO with a Banks Six-Gun stacked. Sorry, but those are bogus claims. Jobe is a liar.

He sells things like the "Powercross Downpipe Insert" and the "Powercross Muffler". Both are tubes with non-external powered fans stuck in them, and he claims it "creates a vacuum" in the exhaust. Sorry, but that is physically impossible. That's like saying the turbo creates a vacuum in the up-pipes and manifolds. If anything, those fans create additional backpressure, since they are spinning thanks to exhaust flow (exactly how a turbo spins).

If you really want a kicker, this is absolutely hilarious. He sells a Crossover CCV mod, and this is the description of the kit:

My cross over vent tube turns the oil filler cap into a vent tube. A special gromet and steel braided line vent both of the valve covers evenly when used in conjunction with my air system. It cools both of the heads evenly, and reduces the temperature of your valve cover's. Just imagine how hot it gets as the heat rises and temperatures rises getting hot enough to boil oil in the valve cover. Lets hope that does not happen. The 6.0 is more prone to high themps because the EGR cooler runs along the valve cover. Turn your 7.3 or 6.0 into a dual ventilated system! Scavangaging the heat energy that is in the valve covers makes more power. The air and gasses are injected back into the turbo creating a vucuum. This "supercharges" your turbo. Typicaly will give you 2-3 psi. more of boost ! Most importantly if used with my JOBE PERFORMANCE air intake system. You will be harnessing the power of vacuum. By using the turbo as a free power in the form of a vacuum pump. Will the heat cause any negative side effects? NO. The heat is less than 1 % of total air pre intercooling so, harnessing this wasted heat energy actually spools the turbo up faster than venting them out to atmosphere. The CCV gases have forms of nitrogen and hydrogen that act as a catalyst and makes combustion more efficient. FEEL the diference. Even INCREASES fuel economy 10+ percent . Lets your motor run more efficently by Scavangening wasted heat energy. Reducing the trapped heat inside will make your motor last longer. Don't forget, these trucks have 17.5:1 compression ratios so harnes that eneregy and get more boost, throttle response, and better economy guaranteed!
Oil boils under the valve covers? Hot crankcase gasses spool the turbo? Nitrogen and hydrogen in the crankcase gasses act as a catalyst and give 10% or more boost in fuel economy? HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Reagan Jobe is a joke. I can't believe he is still in business pandering his baloney. I wouldn't give him a dime for any product he sells. He is a con artist, plain and simple, and should be avoided.

I second what Curtis said. His products are a Joke. Anyone who would promote cutting up your hood to install a BETTER FLOWING intercooler is a clown

I'm not sure if his intake kit can hold a 6637. I know a few months back Diesel Tech Magazine tested out the Jobe Performance intake. They weren't too fond of it. Basically what they concluded was it was overpriced for what they got, and they had trouble getting it to fit. But they used the filter that came with the kit, and didn't try any others to see if they were interchangeable.

Oh, someone asked earlier about the batteries in the pic.... those are Optimas.
