new to this computer forum thing. my headache is i have 95 astar 4liter a4ld. trans went so i bought 87 astar 3liter a4ld fresh rebuilt. changed bellhousing for my 4liter and added 3-4 servo to valve body. now know i have to reuse old valve body plate. problems: doesnot go into reverse easily (i usually wiggle selector lever for reverse to engage) does not want to come out of low gear when cold (once 2nd is reached it works fine) has new modulator. finally converter does not lock up. tranny worked fine in 87 doner van. i need some help WHILE I STILL HAVE HAIR. thanks to any help!
Doesn't a '95 use a 4R44e transmission? I thought '94 was the last year of the A4LD.
The valve bodies are tempermental and unless this seal perfectly, you get cross leaking which causes lots of behavior problems. Why not rebuild the old trans, that typically gives better results than swapping in a trans from an older year.
