Ok some of you have seen my crew build. Well im at the point of rear suspension and have decided on buying a shackle flip kit. Truck will weigh approx 7k. 5.9 cummins getrag and dual 205s. Well i cant decide on what i want to buy. I like the ruffstuff design but im wondering about the type of shackles. I plan on towing my bronco with it when im done so the extra weight matters.
There is probably a slight advantage in strength to the roughstuff hanger just by its design, but the short shackle does limit some articulation, and it has no provisions for a stop. This means that you run the risk of over compressing the spring and flipping the shackle over center.
The Sky kit has a built in stop by its design to prevent this from occuring.
This is sirt of agray area, Dave, because we have yet to see anyone push one to its limits. I use the stock style hanger and a stock shackle, (the "A" style) and have never had any problems. I tow the orange truck with this one, and it pulls it just fine.
I doubt you will have any problems with yours at all.
