Hi Guy's
I replaced with a great deal of effort the spark plugs and plugs wires only to find this didn't solve my problem with a miss at idle and while running but not on acceleration.
Any ideas ??? Every plug that I pulled out was clean and normal, I did however find (and thought I solved the mystery) #6 plug wire had a broken end that attaches to the spark plug, well short story I need to get this thing smogged to transfer the title, and she ain't going to get NO smog Cert. running like this.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Take it somewhere and have a can of injector cleaner ran through the engine from the fuel rail with the fuel pumps disabled.
You could also run 1/3 can of Seafoam through the brake booster hose.
Did you replace any of the COPS? Does your year have COPS? On my E-350 I've replaced over half of them in that past 140,000 miles. It's never the plug, always the COP.
Yeah, I found a broken and cracked "L" fitting on the back of the intake which I replaced, it went to the device in question, I also did the wiggle test under or part of the test procedure with code fault finder.
So it does say a 126 code = map, but will that cause the mis that also sometimes so strong it feels like it could stall or just die ?
Have had a mis at idle at any rpm, but not acceleration, Used a code reading devise, said map sensor faulty replaced ...still has same problem, NEED HELP PLEASE.
WELL NO CROSS FIRING,SOOO. I had a Ford mech. tell me that the engine is worn ?? he said that particular year had a problem with intermittent mis-fire which is caused by the worn lobes on the cam and worn timing gears and chain, I would go with this from past experience if the engine exhibited the symptoms but it doesn't. So I will be changing out the ECT and the IAT and then move on to the Oxy. sensor. this problem only starts as soon as it starts warming up and continues while running but Not on acceleration, only when it's at a set rpm, ex. idle or holding the gas pedal at a steady position. When engine is running or being driven it is so strong I doubt very much I have a worn cam or gears.
