Well this isn't a thread with questions or complaints, more just recounting my day. After reading all these threads with people trying to replace their plugs I got the motivation to take a stab at mine. After some research I decided today was the day. I had no intention of replacing them as I don't have the money to blow on Champions so I planned on just taking them out, cleaning them, throwing some anti-sieze on and plopping them back in.
Today I did the four plugs on the drivers side and am proud to say that all four came out without any issues and had none to very little carbon build up on them. I turned them a quarter of a turn, let them soak with some carb cleaner and penetrating fluid for about 15 minutes, then proceeded to slowly turn them out. I figure it helps that I run marvel mystery oil every once and while to keep the carbon low. Anyway, they're all back in and the truck runs great!
I'd like to thank everyone who's posted any information regarding this topic as it made my process much easier!! Thanks again!!
Oh and I forgot to mention I have an '06 with 34k miles.

How much MMO do you run, and how often? Tank size too, please....
Hmmmm, your truck has the same mileage as mine. Maybe I should do mine before its too late. You just did the one side?
I only did one side this weekend. I'll probably finish up with the other side sometime this week or next weekend. Can't hurt to pull 'em out now. Just set aside a day or two and some patience and you should be all set!

Well I don't consistently run it. I'd say I put in about 16 oz every four or five tanks and I have the 30 gallon tank I believe. I think it should also be noted that before my last oil change I needed to add some oil and I added about 8 oz of MMO to my oil which may also have helped.

Thanks a lot! I couldn't have done it without all the help from everyone here!!
Just out of curiosity, since there was hardly any carbon buildup and now there is never-seize on them will I be okay to leave them in another 40k miles or so? Would I notice a difference if I upgraded to the Champions? I just can't see spending the money when my plugs were in great shape.
It kinda depends if you believe Ford or not. The anti-seize is suppose to prevent the plug from getting glued into the cylinder, preventing the plug from breaking apart. However, if it were me, I'd prefer to have the one piece plug and the anti-seize just to make absolutely sure.
Yeah that makes sense. I'll leave them in there and check them every once and a while to make sure nothing is building up. Lets just hope I can get the other four out without any issues.
My concern would be that every time you take them out you're weakening the two piece design and increasing your chance of breaking one even at torques below 32ft/lbs.
Well either way I'll be replacing them at 100k and I'll most likely only check them one more time before that. And even then I'll probably only take one plug out of each bank to check it. Hopefully just taking them out once more won't weaken it all that much.
Well I went to do the passenger side yesterday. I started to crack the first plug 1/4 of a turn and it just kept turning very easily so I figured why not, lets try to get this one without any carb cleaner/penetrating fluid. It came out even more easily than the drivers side ones with the carb cleaner and it had no carbon on it. I did the same thing with the second one and figured that it isn't worth the trouble to move the PCM and move all sorts of things around to just take the other two out and find no carbon so I'm leaving them alone.
Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe it's the Marvel Mystery Oil or full synthetic oil but I'm definitely not changing what I'm doing. So for those out there contemplating doing their plugs....not everyone has issues!! Just take your time and read up!! Thanks again everyone for all the info to get me through the process!!
