engine swap info needed

I have a 1988 f-150 5.0 fei 2wd and am buying a 1989 f-150 4.9. the 4.9 is 4x4. actualy am wanting to put the 4x4 stuff from the 89 onto the 88 5.0 truck but want to keep the 5.0 will it bolt up to the 4.9 trans? also have a 5.8 fei, will that bolt up to the 4.9 trans? if so do i have to change the wiring and computer? doing the work is no problem but want to know what will work before starting this adventure. please email me at ynothd@yahoo.com Thanks for reading and please send helpful info. and party on OH MY !!!

my 5.0 is auto, and i think the 4.9 is a stick? will i just have to get a flywheel and clutch kit for the 5.0?

OK THANKS i WILL HAVE EVERYTHING BUT THE FLYWHEEL AND CLUTCH SO I'LL GET THAT. WILL THE WIRING AND COMP. FROM THE 5.0 WORK ON THE 5.8?

just found out the 4.9 is automatic also. so all i'll need is tha wiring harness for the 5.8

The easiest route here is to put whatever V8 you want into the 4x4 truck, take the V8 engine harness and computer and swap it into the other truck. Wiring harness for both 5.0 and 5.8 are the same with some minor exceptions that won't affect engine operation(5.8 has no knock sensor). You will also need the V8 frame towers and engine mounts and the rad, and a matching flywheel/flexplate for whatever tranny the truck has, you can't use the I6 flexplate on either motor.
