spotting a 427

can some one please tell me how to spot a 427 a friend of mine thinks he has one but is not entirely sure wat characteristics do i look for

first off a 427 wouldn't have come in one of these trucks from the factory.

click on the 1973-1979 Tips and Tricks on the main forum page. a 427 is an FE right? it will tell you how many valve cover bolts to look for for an FE, but then basically to know for sure your gonna have to measure the stroke.

A 427 has main bolts thru the side of the block. Look right above the pan rail and if you see bolts thru the block chances are its a 427.
