Any one know where I can get a stand alone controller for the E40D? I want to change computers in my truck for a MAF kit and the puter in the MAF kit doesn't support the E40D.
In theory, several of us here are discusing this, the motorsport 351 lightning overlay MAF kit works with the E40D question is are the tranny pinns the same on your existing plug as with the overlay plug and are you able to swap the four injectors, actually strait across two for two to make the firing order correct?
Good Luck and let us know whhat happens

yeah, the baumann computer sounds like the way to go. I ordered one this week, to put an E4OD behind a 72 400 engine. I found another one that was pretty fancy, with a built in Dyno on screen, but it's 1300 bucks.
i just looked at their web site (thanks for the tip!) and it looks like for a 400 "cleveland" (big-block bolt pattern) in a '75 ranchero, my choice is either a c6 or an e4od. i'd really like to have overdrive, so in that case the e4od is my ONLY choice, right? approximately how much does the baumann electronic unit cost?
Yes, to put an Automatic overdrive trans behind a 400 there is only ONE choice. There were apparently a few 400's built with the small bellhousing pattern, but those are rare as hen's teeth.
So, you're back to the E40d. I got one out of a wrecked 90 f250 4x4 that had a 460 engine. I'm trading the engine to a guy who wants the computerized engine in a street rod, and he's trading me his old 460 core for doing all the labor to exchange my old 4 speed for the new E40D and Borg Warner t-case.
There were lots of complaints about these transmissions until 95 when they made several upgrades that cleaned them up.
I checked with my transmission shop who told me to rebuild the old one and install all the upgrades would run about a thousand dollars. A bargain I think. I won't do it yet, cause i may not need the overhaul yet. These are the same trans that's behind the powerstroke diesel!
The Baumannator shift computer costs 400 plus shipping (5 bucks to Kansas). I'm expecting it this week and will have info about how well it works in a week or two hopefully.

What all is involved in installing a E4OD Trans in a 79 Ranchero. I have a 400m Motor and i know i have to use a computer on the trans. What else do i need to modify to make it work?
