Trans Fluid looks Clear?

Trans Fluid looks Clear?
Hi guys, I have a 1990 F250 XLT, 351, with the E4OD trany and when I checked the trans fluid the other day,(hot and in Park) it looked clear. I even checked it twice. And I used an old white t-shirt to clear the dip stick. I had the trans fluid flushed last spring, almost a year ago-4,000 miles ago. What could cause this? I thought the fluid was to look a bright red. The truck has 126K miles on it.

Assuming your year does use Mercon, then yes, the fluid should be red and clear(ideal).
But if some one used the wrong frluid or if your year didn't use Mercon, then it might be yellowish clear.
But if it is light pink or almost clear, best bet is it is worn out.
Better clear than brown or black though.

Thanks Guys.... better to be safe than sorry. I will be changing it this weekend. And I checked the Chiltons manual, it said Dextron II Mercon also.
