Anyone play with one of these to read our trucks? I know we are not OBD II compliant but just curious. I played with stuff like this when I was getting my digital electronics degree. Looks like fun. I have read stuff from others here that gets my mind spinning. Though I would throw this out there.
Our trucks ARE OBD II compliant, just with extra stuff on top of it specific to them. I've built lots of kits and even some self-designed stuff, but that does look interesting. However, be aware that you could just buy one of these that's already done for you and does a heck of a lot more: ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool
Joe, I've done a great deal of searching on the tool I want to buy. I did find the scanguage. I like it. Just thought this would be fun to poke a stick at.
Since I'm on the topic. I want to be able to read/clear codes from my truck, a honda CRV and a blazer. Any (other than AE) tool that is simple to use for all?
BTW I talked to AE support. They will be updating the tool so that I can access the F250, CRV and blazer with only one interface tool. the ST06. Updates are complete when you see the ST06 tool for the Ford bundle in the order page
Sounds good, Mike. I'd be interested in seeing what you come up with. My AeroForce ScanGauge is on order from Terminator. The thing is that with automatic trucks, it won't measure coolant temp or oil pressure without external sensors. I believe the manuals will read coolant temp but not oil pressure. I'm ordering the two extra sensors required to do that just because I want to be able to see it. Both together are about another $100...
