Today (6/17) is my birthday, and My wife bought me a truck. I have been eyeballing this truck for a long time now, and she surprised me with it.
It's a 1976 F250 Highboy 4X4 with a 390, NP435, NP205, Rear D60 and front D44. It's not exactly in showroom condition, but it's very workable (for a grand). It has a HD rear bumper, front tow hooks, a gooseneck hitch, in-bed fuel tank, and it runs like a champ!
great looking truck for a grand, wasn't that truck in the classifieds a while back,an old fire department truck?excellant score for your birthday, you wife should talk to mine lol.
That's one very nice looking highboy for 1k, did you verify that it's actually a 390 and not a 360?
Unfortunatly, that is the only problem. I am only 98% sure it's a 390, as it's not the original engine. It has 1965 casting numbers on the block, but I would hope that no one would put a 352 in a truck this big. It runs great, and has a ton of power. And before anyone gets too excited, the body is, by no means, perfect. The floorboards need replacing, and the rest of the truck needs minor repair. I am very satisfied, and I do think it was a GREAT deal.
very nice truck I now have my granpa's 78 F250Ranger my uncle gave it to me last month about two weeks before my birthday I have a bigger pic of it on my myspace profile my name is Jason White when I get a chance I will take good pics and have my wife post them I will let everyone know when I get it done

The only reason i ask is nearly every highboy i've ever seen up for sell claims to have a 390 and granted it was/is a very popular swap there is no way to visibly distinguish a 360 from a 390 and a lot of unscrupulous sellers take advantage of that fact and just pass off their 360 as a 390 to the unknowing, the only way to be certain is to measure the stroke, 3.50"=360 3.75"=390, Ford never put a 390 in the highboys.

No, it sure wasn't. I don't think they ever had it listed.
I gotta get it safety inspected and before I do that, I have to rig up a horn. PITA. Then, let the fun begin!
Congratulations on your new truck! Replacing floor pans won't be all that difficult and from what we see in the photo you (your wife!) got a killer deal!
