Anyone know what years SROD was available. Mine is 81 F100; what other years, what other models had it?

My SROD (single rail overdrive) was JUNK!! Too high geared for Towing anything no matter how light. 3 clutches in a year! Any way I swapped in a Borg-Warner 4-speed out of an '86 f-250 and it was a direct bolt-in. Now I can pull!! Changed because bearings came out of SROD.

I don't tow so I don't have a problem. Definitely HIGH geared; mine is even worse 'cause I have the 2.73 (I think) differential. Even at 70 MPH (for demonstration purposes only, professional driver on closed track, don't try this at home:P ) I'm at 1600 RPM. But I've had few problems, and its just transportation.

Borg-Warner 4-speed even matched the hole in the floor for shifter???

No change in drive shaft???

I may go there some day, if my SROD goes down, or I get tired of high gear ratios.
