How would i know if my truck is equiped to run with e85? Was there even a factory option to do so? Also what do they change on an e85 vehicle? Im pretty sure i know the awnsers to most of this stuff, i just would like to verify that im right.
your truck is not e85. ford has had autos that run on variuos fuels for years. our 89 aerostar ran on gasahol. which is similar to e85 but like 40-50% alchol. my o7 f150 was ffv BUT HAD NO DECALS.
As far as what changes? When the vehicle is running on E85, it uses a new fuel table (fuel is less dense, injector pulse needs to be increased), it advances the timing more (E85 is about 107 octane), and Im sure it changes a few other parameters as needed. It has a sensor that can not only detect whether you are running E85, but any ethanol blend, so the computer can adjust to any gasoline to ethanol ratio.
